Defqon.1 enters its 20th round. Last Thursday the full line-up and other specials for the 20th edition have been announced in the stream „The Release“. From June 27th to 30th, Biddinghuizen will once again become the Mecca of harder music styles. A varied line-up with more than 350 acts, including some upcoming German talents, awaits you. Defqon.1 celebrates its 20th birthday
No matter where in the world, Defqon.1 and Harder Styles are like salt and pepper. It is THE festival of the scene and brings Hard Dance lovers from all over the world together in Biddinghuizen (Netherlands) year after year. In 2023, over 250,000 visitors from 110 countries partied to the various subgenres of Harder Styles on the holy grounds of Defqon.1.
For its 20th anniversary, organizer Q-Dance is once again promising four days full of electrifying music, exciting activities, and unforgettable shows.
The Defqon.1 2024 line-up
Defqon.1 represents all subgenres of the Harder styles on different stages named after colors. Beginning with Hardstyle on the RED, through Rawstyle on the BLUE to even Uptempo on the YELLOW. – The whole range of Harder Styles is represented.
In 2024, the GREEN stage will also feature Hardtechno again.
More than 350 Acts
With more than 350 acts, Defqon.1 once again offers a first-class line-up that brings together the biggest acts on the scene, but also promotes upcoming talents.
Including legends like Ran-D, Angerfist, Brennan Heart, Sefa and the Anthemmakers Sound Rush, the hottest acts of the scene like Dual Damage and Gezellige Uptempo or young talents like Doris.
Also good news for the longtime Hardstyle listeners among you: Showtek will be back at the ‚holy grounds‘ to bring you back to the early days of Hardstyle.
German Acts at Defqon.1
Even the legend Showtek started small once: In 2003 they played for the first time at Defqon.1 and shaped the Harder Styles scene over the years with tracks like „FTS“.
This year some promising talents from Germany will play at Defqon.1 and will set the tone for their musical careers: Imperatorz and Fraw have been in the game for a while and are already an integral part of the Rawstyle scene. Furthermore, The Smiler will serve you his „Gulaschcore“ on the INDIGO Stage for the second time in a row, while Maxtreme will tear down the PURPLE once again.
But that’s not all: German acts Mortis and Superior Core will celebrate their Defqon.1 debut in 2024!
Defqon.1 Showcases
In addition to „normal DJ sets“, Defqon.1 is known for wild b2b’s and outrageous showcases. Several DJs have already presented their live acts at Defqon.1. These are some of this year’s showcases:
You are going to have a good trip with the Doctor at TRIPPIN‘ WITH DR. Peacock, get enlightened by Phuture Noize at THE ENLITENMENT; get wasted with Wasted Penguinz at the brand new live act WASTED PENGUINZ PRESENTS WSTD or let Noxiouz infect you with his chemicals (THE CHEMICALS OF NOXIOUZ). And for the „Hardest Warriors“ among you, Unicorn on Ketamine will serve up the final dose of pipipipi kicks with UNICORN ON KETAMINE PRESENTS PIPIPIPI.
Thursday: Gathering and the Tribute
On Thursday, camping visitors kick off Defqon.1 during The Gathering, where the famous words „Weekend Warriors, Welcome Home“ echo throughout the holy grounds.
The anthem maker Sound Rush will then get you in the mood for the weekend on the mighty BLUE stage, while Hardcore Legend Mad Dog opens the BLACK stage.
The first day of the festival reaches its crescendo with ‚The Tribute‘ on the UV stage, the first of four epic closing show honoring a legendary Hardstyle track and setting the tone for a weekend filled with unforgettable experiences.
Friday: The Opening Ceremony and the Spotlight
As always, the first official festival day begins in the morning with the unveiling of the main stage. Ran-D will have the honor of playing the first set on the stunning RED Stage this year. Other big names will be bringing you the best in Hardstyle and Rawstyle throughout the day on Defqon’s biggest stage.
Closing out the first day, fan-favorite Sefa dazzles with ‚The Spotlight with Sefa‘ at the RED stage, ending Friday with an abundance of touching Frenchore sounds, pyrotechnics and visual effects.
Those who want to party on a big stage but are craving for even faster sounds will get their desire fulfilled with the Hardcore version of ‚The Spotlight‘ with Spitnoise on the BLACK.
The GREEN will also once again be a playground for Hardtechno lovers with acts such as Luciid and Cynthia Spiering.
Saturday: Warrior Workout and The Endshow
Saturday starts with the return of the legendary ‚Warrior Workout‘. This year for the first time at RED, making it the biggest Hardstyle workout ever!
As the day progresses, things get tougher: Rooler heats up the RED for his debut, while Dual Damage demolishes the BLUE for their first ever Defqon.1 performance.
In addition, the popular POWER HOUR returns and offers you an hour of crazy ecstasy with fireworks, pyrotechnics, dancers and the famous ‚left-right‘ moment.
And another premiere: Angerfist is the first Hardcore act ever to have the hoour of playing the closing on Saturday at RED.
The day reaches its feverpitch with ‚The Endshow‘, a classic feature of Defqon.1 known far and wide for being anincredible experience. And let’s face it, we’ve all shed a few tears during those emotional and spectacular Defqon-endshows in the past years.
Sunday: The Closing Ceremony and The Ritual
True Weekend Warriors already know: The fun really starts on the last day of Defqon.1, because Sunday is Funday! No outfit is crazy enough on the last festival day. – Costumes are explicitly encouraged. And it won’t be noticed if you use a lot of make-up to hide how wasted you are.
The Closing Ceremony is the crowning glory of an epic festival weekend and will be extended to an five- hour affair in 2024, moving far beyond its three-hour duration in previous years. However, the line-up for The Closing Ceremony remains a secret, promising one Defqon.1 Legend after another to close this edition in spectacular fashion.
Side programme and after-show parties
As always, there will be fantastic offstage activities, including fire shows and entire entertainment areas that get bigger and more spectacular every year. And for those who can’t get enough after dark, there will be wild after-parties.
